    The School highly values foreign exchange and cooperation. It actively cooperates with renowned foreign universities in running schools, organizes or undertakes international conferences, invites distinguished foreign scholars to give lectures, arranges teachers and students to go abroad for academic exchange and learning.

    To be accustomed to its strategic position as the bridgehead for economic cooperation between China and Southeast Asia countries and to promote the foreign exchange and cooperation of Yunnan Normal University, the School has entered into agreement with the School of Humanities and Social Science of Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University and carried out ASEAN Training Project for 2+2 Tourism Management Cooperation which has help to cultivate a group of Chinese-Thai talents with high quality.

    In recent years, the School has organized and undertaken many international academic conferences such as Sino-Canada Workshop on Plateau Lake and International Workshop on  Political Geography (The conferences name in 2014) etc.. It also invites international renowned paleoclimate experts, members from The Academy of Europe, members from Royal Belgium Academy of Sciences, and Andre Berger (foreign member) from Royal Canada Academy of Sciences to visit Southwest Associated University Forum; launches Senior Seminar on Climate Change Theory; carries out several Sino-Germany field practices with Free University of Berlin. Furthermore, Professor Zhang Hucai, on behalf of Chinese Scientists, attended IODP organization and IODP Voyage No. 361 the Climate of Southern Africa, a large international cooperation study recommended and approved by IODP Office in China; Professor Chen Guangjie took up the post of associate editor of Journal of Paleolimnology.
